Lithium batteries
I'm keen on dropping 4+ kg off the old '07 sporty, but I having trouble finding anyone on this crappy little island that lists one to suit. I'm not buying an overpriced one with a HD sticker on it that's for sure when there should be plenty of other viable options. Or is there a good reason I can't find one, like they don't like the charging system or something? Anyone here running one? What is it? Anyone recommend somewhere to get one?
Re: Lithium batteries
Good question - I just had a look online too and could only find the rip-off HD ones.
I can't find any other listing in NZ for them.
I'd also assume shipping them over from another country would be quite expensive due to the weight etc.

Re: Lithium batteries
I've got a generic type one I'm gonna try. All the specs measure up, and it has a bunch of protections built in, so worth a shot I reckon.

Re: Lithium batteries
Alright, it's in there. It starts well, and charges up to and holds right around 14v when it's running. It drops to 13.5 once you turn it off, though it may drop a bit more after it's sat for a bit.
I used one of these, hell of a deal pricewise;

Fits perfectly length and width wise, it is a bit lower in height, but that allowed me to stick a bit of the thick padding it comes with on top and slide the FP3 in there. The screws are a little smaller than the 5mm ones in the stock battery, and a little short with the washers and extra terminals. I had some with large enough flanges to work well, but it may be worth buying a couple of washers to cover the terminal properly if you use the ones that come with the battery, and/or some slightly longer screws.

Interesting! Going to look into buying a couple of these.
