More ready to go with a General purpose kitchen and pairing knife in NitroV with spilled acrylic as a gift for a friend.
An EDC with curly eucalyptus over 1084 blade in stamped sheath with attached honing steel. The customer wanted my name engraved with the NuZ being the Czech way of spelling knives and with the N and Z being capitalised reinforcing its NZ made origin.
And for a repeat customer an Euro kitchen set in NitroV and a General purpose Field knife in 1084 HC, all with Totora over brass.
Something different for a change of pace. I have just finished a Lee Speed stock and it was the first I had done with a tang safety so some delicate inletting there.
The weapon was a sporting variant of the well known Lee–Metford and Lee–Enfield rifles made for civilian shooters, though often purchased by Army officers who wanted a rifle made to a higher standard of fit and finish than the issued military rifle. Lee Speeds were built by BSA and LSA 1890 - 1914. After that the patent expired and was no longer marked on the rifle. So technically, there were no Lee Speeds after 1918, but the name stuck and all factory BSA & LSA sporters got the handle Lee Speed.
The Wapiti Hunter with Tasmanian Backwood over curve backed brass bolters on the 5 inch 1075 HC blade in a closed top sheath was a rush order for a birthday gift this sunday.
A new addition to the pattern board is the #2 Bushcraft knife. It has a Koa handle on the 1075 blade with heavy jimping and a lanyard in the closed top sheath. The original Bushcraft Hunter I offered has a 3 3/4 in x 1 inch blade with full scandi grind where the #2 Bushcraft knife has a 4 3/4 x 1 1/4 inch blade with a low saber grind and shot=rt secondary bevel.
A General purpose field knife with some of the very nice walnut on the 1084 blade in simply pouch sheath, and a pretty little Bird and Trout knife with Tasmanian Blackwood on the NitroV SS blade in a closed top sheath.
A while back I had a Savage 20g/22 mag dropped in for a refurbish so after a strip down I reshaped the wrist and grip, added a grip cap, re set the off center butt plate, thinned down the forestock and added a forend tip. There was a going over with some walnut dye as the customer wanted a darker finish and then multi coats of stock finishing oil.
Before...
and after
so with that done, a side of espresso cow leather was ordered in for the required leather carry bag, and after a bit of time working on patterns I have everything cut out and readdy for assembly although I have to wait for a couple of buckles so cant proceed much further untill they arrive as they need to be attached to the pouch before that is sewn on and that needs to be done before the bag is sewn together but I have knives to do to keep me busy untill they arrive.
Note the cat on my rocking chair at the head of the table. I have the chair untill I finish breakfast and he has it for the rest of the day.
