Thoughts on the Softail's?
Thoughts on the Softail's?
Thinking of getting a Softail that I've found locally that's going for a good price. The guy is away for another month so I can't go to test ride it, but what are your thoughts on the comfort of a Softail? It's an FXST with minimal modifications.
Any thoughts are welcome!
Cheers

Welcome to the forum.
Yea I've had an early 2000 FXST before, it was lowered at the rear and sat really aggressively but it actually still rode really nice. Nicer than the Dyna I have now.
Has it got stock suspension on it?

Re: Thoughts on the Softail's?
Thanks mate yea it is on stock suspension, which may also be a bad thing depending on how much ride time the thing has had.
I'll try and sit tight until he's back for a test ride! If anyone else has thoughts on the Softail ride comfort let me know 😎

Can't go wrong with a Softail if you've got the suspension, seating and bars setup for your style/height/weight!
They're extremely comfy bikes if done right.

Re: Thoughts on the Softail's?
Softails....Ok to ride but utter shite to work on as you have to take the oil tank out to do more jobs than you might imagine....things that take an hour on a Dyna can be 4 hours on a Softie.
Ok if you don't work on it yourself but it has put me off ever owning one.
But they can be real purty and so I can understand why people like them, they have a certain something 😎

Had, wide glides and fatboys. Currently have an 01 fxst, changed seat, bars and footpegs when I got it, also lowered the back end 1.5inch. It's the most comfortable harley I've owned thus far, handles really well too.
Re: Thoughts on the Softail's?
I can second that. Recently sold my FXST and it was super comfortable, except for the bars which I never got round to changing. Really nice bikes, I regret selling it 😂
