Radar detectors

by BruceM -

Has anyone installed on of these on their bike? Lost a few demerits the other day and figured I’d take some precautions.
‘Very little info on these for bikes though,
Cheers

Yep I've done one on a mates bike, nice and straightforward to install if the bars are high enough. Might be tricky with your front fairing, may need a custom mount to get it high enough. Easy to wire up.

Just make sure it's made for a bike so it's waterproof and has a bright light on it.

Escort and Adaptiv are pretty decent ones. You can find them on eBay. Might be some floating around trademe and facebook too?

Thanks. I’m leaning towards the Escort Redline 360C, seems to be one of the best units out there, and I’m told that even the Adaptive units are not that waterproof, so I’ll just cover it.
Im getting some higher bars soon so that should make mounting easy to clear the fairing

Yea I've heard the same. Go Escort if you can! Let us know how it goes sourcing one and fitting it.

What kind of bars are you looking at?

Bars and front shock inserts go on / in on Tuesday. Went with KST Kustoms “Patriot” 12” bars. Standard bars leave me a little round shouldered

I ended up avoiding the bike specific radars, someone I know did a side by side review of the Adaptiv vs the Uniden R7 and the R7 won hands down.

Ended up going with a Uniden R8, and then used this to mount it https://www.evocycles.co.nz/Product/506 ... bike-mount with a universal mount stuck to the radar.

Works awesome, have had heaps of long range alerts. Have paired it via Bluetooth with my phone, so I get audio alerts.

Only con is you can't get it wet, so you either need to waterproof it some how or don't use it in the rain.

Nice I've got the Uniden R7 in my C63 and it's an amazing piece of kit. Awesome range, hasn't failed me yet.

I'm sure there will be some easy ish ways to waterproof them. And at least they're easy enough to take off if it rains in the meantime!
