Cleaning your bike with Ed's Red
While soap and water will take care of the majority of the cleaning necessary to keep our bikes looking half way presentable there is always some road grime that seems oil based and needs a little extra to scrub it away.
Guns, knives and M/C have been my passion for at least 60 years and as far as the guns are concerned I have been very involved with a variety of activities with all of them requiring some sort of cleaning periodically. In the early 1930's Ed Harris developed a superb cleaner for the firearms of the day and with some substitutions for what is readily available today. it has become an institutional favourite for the cast bullet fraternity, cowboy action shooting etc and after a good ride today I got out my Ed's Red and it made short work of all sorts of grime that was still there after the soap and water go-over I have made and used it for years and can highly recommend it for all those spots that the simple soap and water will not easily shift. Easy to make with equal parts kero, turps, atf and acetone.

Interesting stuff! I'll have to give this a go. No water at all @VonGruff? Just equal parts kero, turps, atf and acetone?

I wasn't using it on the paint' mainly on the engine cases etc. Have not come across anything on the paint that soap and water will not move.
