1989 Build
1989 Build
Making progress on the 1989 Heritage build.
Frame and forks all powder coated and bottom end of engine rebuilt. I'm putting on a 2022 Fatbob front guard and wideglide rear guard. The wheels are off a Roadking and front brakes are off a 2020 Road King so it should stop.

Re: 1989 Build
Always a rewarding process to make these pieces ourselves and adds a very personal touch to our bikes. Will there be a visible gap between the top of the # plate and the lower edge of the mounted guard?
Re: 1989 Build
It's only mocked up at present still more adjustments to be made before powder coating
Re: 1989 Build
Got the new mikuni manifold and air cleaner adapter. Unfortunately the S&S adapter sent from Aussie wasn't the correct one, screw holes didn't quite line up. So I plugged the screws holes and welded, drilled and tapped new screws holes in the correct position and it's mounted. I'll mount the engine in frame very soon.

Re: 1989 Build
Made the brackets that hold the air cleaner back plate onto the heads, I'll powder coat next week.
This meant I could drop the engine into the frame. I'll bolt up the inner primary next so I can align the gearbox etc. Then tighten all the bolts and install the rear shocks.

Re: 1989 Build
Fitted up the inner primary so now the gearbox and engine are all bolted together.. installed starter motor and mocked up the rear guard and tank to see how it's going to look. I finished the number plate and tail light bracket.

Nice work @Kees, loving the drag bars too.
How's the ride position with the forward footboards and drag bar combo?

Re: 1989 Build
Nice. I had wide as f*** drag bars on a Softail with forward pegs and she was a little uncomfy 😂 looked staunch though.
Make sure you throw up a video of her running once she's all buttoned up!
