I have always made my own knives since losing one I bought in the 60's and a few years back I was showing the members on a hunting forum how I was making a knife and before I knew it my hobby had me fairly busy so my retirement is full contentment with the bike, knife making, the garden and the odd hunt to keep the freezer stocked.
Be a nice ride tomorrow down to Fort Rose to deliver one to my wifes nieces husband who is farming down that way.
The Bushcraft Hunter has a 3 3/4 inch O1 tool steel blade with canvas micarta handle that is scolloped to aid wet hands grip.

Looks very well made mate!
Thanks. Making things was always a passion and for the knives, what was always a hobby went for the very occasional one for myself to crazy in 2016 when the guys on an 80k member international hunting forum got wind of them and 900 knives into 10 different countries later the hobby has been very good to me.
Made a lot of rifles for a few years and built a bike but not the way most people build a bike as I made every part of it bar the wiring, wheels lights and mirror.
Frame, forks, tank, guards seat and everything else then changed it from a right side foot shift to a left side hand shift and suicide clutch. Ran a 67 BSA spitfire motor and even ran the local 1/4 mile one year for fun.

Do you have a catalogue somewhere of the knives you make/sell?
Yes I have a website here https://www.vongruffknives.com/
Almost anything you want I can make and have done a few pieces for some of my customer base who are in the collector market from 6th century seax to 13 century Templar Knights dagger to themed damascus bowie and to replica's of some other blades for some of my repeat customer base. There is a gallery on then site with early knives at the start and some of the more chalenging samples as you get further into it.
On the bench 3 whittling knives, a heavy hunter and3 buffalo skinners, 2 swords and a set of the K tip chef knives. The chef set has yet to be heat treated so is not ground yet.
Knife # 900
I have a few days hunting organised for this month so decided it was time to retire my old standby Light hunter with the end grain olivewood handles so I made myself this Tahr Hunter with scolloped OD canvas micarta handle over blaze liners with lanyard tube on the 1075 blade with jimping in a closed top sheath with edge stamping.
A new butcher knife for me. Cryo quenched 9 inch nitroV blade with stainless bolster, stainless and G10 spacers and a G10 liner under the Honduran Rosewood handle.
These three Buffalo Skiners have best grade Walnut over buffalo horn curve back bolsters on 1075 HC blades with engraved names in closed top sheaths with edge stamping and an attached honing steel.
A Tahr Hunter with scolloped OD canvas micarta over orange G10 liners with lanyard tube and spine jimping on the 1095 HC blade in a new design 10degree horrozontal sheath with top closure.
A pair of filleting knves with blue G10 over black liners on the 4 1/2 and 6 inch NitroV SS blades.
A pair of whittling knives for a carver to test so grinder finished blades with the top one being a primary whittler with 2 1/2 inch blade and the detail whittler with finer pointed 1 1/4 in blade in 1075 HC steel.
And there is a field scalpel with walnut on the 3 inch nitroV SS blade in pocket or pack sheath.
Two I had etched and are now ready to go. A 9 inch butcher with curve backed buffalo horn bolster and walnut on the 1084 HC blade, and a Tahr Hunter with spalted Buckeye over the curve backed buffalo horn bolster on the spine jimped 1095 HC blade. This one is a first memorial prize for a young man from the rodeo community and a bull rider will be the winner on the day.
A Buffalo Skiner with walnut over curve back buffalo horn bolster on the initials etched 1075 blade in closed top sheath with edge stamping and attached honing steel.

The 4 piece K-tip Chef set comprizing the 10 and 8 inch chef's with the 6 inch general purpose and the 4 inch paring knife with Chittim handles all on cryo quenched NitroV blades. The knife block is a one off as it was a labour intensive design and trial exercise because of the length of the10 inch blade needing more than the usual upright block, and the multiple angles of every piece of the macrocarpa wood took time and trials to get right..
Also to the same address is the Heavy hunter with Koa over CB Buff on 1075 blade in stamped, closed top sheath and the little field scalpel with walnut on the NitroV blade in a pocket or pack sheath.

What sort of price do the 4 piece chef sets like the one above go for @VonGruff?
That one with the exhibition grade chittim handles minus the block was US$1155 + shipping and at todays rate those US$ were NZ$1788 plus there was the knife block and the other two knives for him so there was a nice return on them.

Amazing craftsmanship Gruff.
Thank you. It is one of the pleasures that makes my retirement so enjoyable. In the shed making the knives and other things then going for a ride when the shine is out. This is a 3 piece K-tip chef set I made for my niece with black cherry acrylic scales on the cryo quenched NitroV blade.
