Snapped exhaust stud

by Dave -

Hi all

I've managed to snap the frame-side exhaust stud on my 2006 FXST
It's snapped just below flush so can't grab it or weld a nut on
Any ideas that don't include pulling the engine? 😅

Ouch. I've had the same thing and unfortunately if you can't get a weld and nut in there, the motor will probably have to be pulled.

What kind of clearance have you got? Any photos?

Sounding like you may have to pull the head and do it on a bench. The broken studs are probably going to have to be heated prior to removal anyway, and the frame won't let you get much in there to retrieve a snapped bolt below the surface.

Sorry to hear. Broken studs suck 😅

Photos will help, but likely a head pull. Let me know if you need a guide.

Thanks guys!
Ended up pulling the head last night and extracting it. All sorted.
I should have taken photos and documented the procedure for the forum - doh.
